Biological Sciences Microscopy and Imaging Facility

The Department of Biological Sciences Microscopy and Imaging Facility is equipped with state-of-the-art resources for light, confocal, and electron microscopy; digital image and video manipulation; and large-format printing.

The facility houses both scanning and transmission electron microscopes, a multi-photon confocal microscope (Leica TCS SP5) ideal for live specimens and deep fluorescent imaging, and a complete system (Olympus FluoView 1000) for laser scanning confocal microscopy with 3D image reconstruction using a graphics workstation. The facility is staffed by a full-time microscopist to assist students and researchers with their projects.
